Fall is here in New England and our FW24 collection launches along with it on September 13th. I am so looking forward to wearing these sweaters and sharing with you some of the inspiration behind each style.
The hero style of the collection is the cover photo diamonds sweater. This felt like a great update to our beloved Hole Sweater style but even more active of a surface. I was inspired by argyle but wanted a really graphic and dimensional approach. Layering this sweater allows you to play with the secondary tone of the argyle and makes for a great transitional weather garment. It is both airy and warm. As you can see from the image below I had originally conceived of it as a vest but when I knit a first swatch I quickly realized it needed all of the space of a full sweater. Because the diamonds are so graphic, I wanted to take that down a notch by adding a little fuzzy-ness into the yarn blend. The base of the sweater is our classic Andean Highland Wool but there is a little bit of alpaca in the mix to bring the fuzz and the color. This style is available in Citrine + Camel, my two favorite colors of the season and maybe every season.
I love to look back on sketches like this because the original sketch of this photo is right next to the original sketch of the Narutomaki Vest which became a spring favorite hand knitting pattern. The rug in the above photo also was the starting point for the below sweater, the Dot Sweater.
For me, this season was all about texture and diversifying yarn selection. Meeting customers in real life at sales like Field and Supply taught me that not everyone likes wearing wool. This season there are many more fiber options. One favorite among our lovely stores + wholesale partners is this Dot Sweater. This style is available in gorgeous Cerulean as pictured but also Walnut and Cedar. I am not typically much of a blue lover but this is the perfect blue. This brushed suri yarn is super light and very warm. We paired it with our classic Andean Highland wool for the dots to provide a color and texture difference. This style also has a friend-scarf made to look like a long sleeve. The effect is a cinched start and wider middle that offers double layer warmth. So so cozy. Wear it as a scarf or balacalva.
Continuing on with our fiber diversity- this season we have a beautiful 100% Pima Cotton Sweater called the Butterfly Sweater. It's a butterfly comprised of colorful diamond shapes. This sweater is also inspired by some of the aboriginal patterns of the American Southwest.
I love the depth of the colors. This base color is called Fog and there is a very pretty dark colorway called Truffle.
Our second accessory of the season is our hand knit hat, the Star Hat. This is also offered as a
hand knitting pattern but I love it so much that we needed to release it as a part of our ready to wear collection. It will be available in Leaf, Spruce, Harvest, and an exclusive to us colorway called Linen.
Our Flower Power Pullover pattern continues to be a knitter favorite so we are offering it for ready to wear this season. The colorway pictured above is called Bark and features 3-tones of flowers. This sweater is a finer gauge and is super light and easy to wear. So cozy and light. There is a secondary color on offer called Moss which I think is a really cool deep green that almost does not read as green.
I love the bright red-orange centers of these flowers. So simple and sweet.
Our final sweater of the season was a well-loved choice by our pre-salers- the Bind Off Sweater. It features small knit-in button holes creating a brick pattern all over the surface of the garment. This one is in our classic Andean Highland Wool.
I love its classic sturdy shape, elongated bottom rib, and beautiful finishing. It molds really nicely into a lot of different style wardrobes- its sort of preppy and grunge at the same time.
Everyone's favorite Hole Sweaters will also be back this season. :)
Knit to order sweaters will be on sale September 13-October 13th. The earlier you order, the quicker the garment comes because they are knit to order. They will ship between mid October and Mid November. Enjoy the crisp sweater weather!
