Animal Fibers
High quality wools like alpaca and merino are known for their natural dirt-repelling and antimicrobial qualities, which means they require less frequent washing. This guide can be used whenever you need to refresh your knits, typically once a year. For more structured knits or delicate cashmere, consider a professional cleaning or trusted dry cleaner.
Step 1
Check for stains or pilling. Pilling is natural and can easily be removed with a sweater stone or pilling comb.
Got a stain? Use a natural soap stick to pre-treat the area.
Step 2
Submerge your knits in cool water with a wool detergent. We recommend Soak. With Soak, your knit just needs to sit in the cool water for 15 minutes. No rinsing required.
Drying
Absolutely no tumble dryers or hangers, this will stretch out your knit.

Roll your sweater sandwiched between the two towels into a cannoli shape.
Press down on the roll to squish even more water out, using your knees for added pressure.
Unroll and place the piece flat in its ideal shape to dry.
Cotton + Linen
Most cotton knits can be machine washed cold as you would other delicates and laid flat to dry. Never tumble dry. Check the care instructions to be safe.
