Collaborating with my friends is my absolute favorite part of having a creative business. For this collaboration, we wanted to do a custom color of Spincycle Dyed in the Wool to celebrate the 2nd birthday of Knit Club.

Here I am at Knit Club with my best friend, Emily Lindberg, who designed the interior of Knit Club and also has designed various parts of my house. Check out her other work here.
Spincycle develops custom colors based on a mood board - we send a mood board and then you get a yarn that feels like that. I submitted images of Knit Club and some additional photos below

My initial ideas for the colorway name based on the interior of Knit Club were: Danish Plastic Furniture, Plywood Accent Chair, and Modernist Design Objét. I felt that all three of those captured the essence of the spaces I was inspired by. Kate and Rachel at Spincycle picked "Modernist Design Objét" as the final name. I think English speakers calling objects objéts is really funny and maybe the right amount of quirk that the interiors themselves exude.
The first color trial we received from the team is above. I love the yellow as velou, red for plastic, the light brown as Beech Plywood, and the dark brown as walnut. These colors felt perfect for the concept.

I know how deep the love runs for Dyed in the Wool. I cannot wait to see what everyone makes with our colorway. My personal favorite base of yarn, maybe of all time, is Trine. Trine is not currently in production in general at Spincycle but we were lucky that after some gentle nudging, Kate and Rachel let us do a Trine version of MDO (Modernist Design Objét). This is the yarn that I got for myself as soon as it arrived. For the friends who have been following DEGEN for a bit, Spincycle and DEGEN did a ready to wear collaboration using Trine to create our 4 Letter Sweater. It is so fun to carry the collaboration torch onward with Trine in MDO.

My first project with this yarn is a CarDEGEN with a Flower Power motif. What will you make?
This yarn drops on July 19th at 10am ET.
