Diamonds and Dots Sweater Pattern

Diamonds and Dots Sweater Pattern

Jan 23, 2026

This is the first DEGEN pattern release of 2026 and I thought what better way to kick it off than with a cozy sweater.

The Diamonds and Dots Sweater is a collaboration between Ritual Dyes, The Wandering Flock, and DEGEN.  Ritual Dyes and The Wandering Flock will be showing together at Vogue Knitting Live and wanted to work together on a pattern that could use both of their DK weight yarns.  Thus, the pattern had to use color-work of some kind to showcase both beautiful yarns in the same garment.  I love to work with design constraints like that, it helps me focus my ideas.

Ive been on a bit of a diamonds kick lately and I really liked seeing the diamonds in a placed pattern with rounded circular shapes.  It sort of feels like argyle and has somewhat of a traditional feel but also the placement and scale feels more contemporary. The pattern uses floats for the colorwork since most of the changes are close enough to together, but when floats get over 4sts long I recommend to twist the yarns to trap the floating yarn to minimize the float length.

When designing color-work patterns with diamond shapes, I like to use lifted increases paired with slanting decreases so that the edges of the diamond are clean instead of stepped. This naturally adds some texture and dimension to the shapes as well that make them really pop.

One extra element that made this really feel collaborative was the colors.  I did not pick the colors, Geraldine from The Wandering Flock and Rachel from Ritual Dyes selected the colorways.

The below colorway is The Wandering Flock DK as MC and Ritual Dyes Priestess DK as CC

The fit of this sweater is like your favorite vintage sweatshirt.  Slightly cropped + wide, although its easy to add length.  The sleeves are also a nice wide gender-free fit that tapers from the underarm to the cuff.

The other colorway is Ritual Dyes Marona as MC, and The Wandering Flock DK as CC

I am so excited to kick off this New Year of making & designing. This is only just the beginning of many exciting new things for DEGEN and me personally. Happy knitting!
