As 2024 draws to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on an incredible year for DEGEN—a year of growth, challenges, and exciting new beginnings.
One of our proudest accomplishments was opening Knit Club in Providence, a dream come true for our community-focused brand. This space has become more than just a store; it’s a hub for creativity, connection, and all things yarn. Seeing our vision come to life has been one of the year’s greatest joys.
We also launched our Fall ‘24 collection, marking our first collaboration with Inside Out Agency as our sales showroom. This milestone was a big step forward in bringing DEGEN to new audiences and building stronger industry relationships. Collaborating with Spincycle was another highlight of the year—a partnership that felt like a natural extension of our shared love for color and texture. Lastly, we dropped eight new patterns, each one a testament to our commitment to design and craft. Seeing our community bring these patterns to life has been truly inspiring. Shout out to Bob Socks, Dot Socks, Bind Off Sweater, Narutomaki Vest, Wavvy Cable Sweater, Diamond Vest, Key Cardigan Tee and Flap Hat.
On a personal note, this was the year I took the leap and left my full-time job to focus on DEGEN full-time. I absolutely loved my job and my coworkers at Converse but it was hard to do both with a long commute. It’s been an exhilarating and fulfilling transition, made even more special by the addition of four talented new team members. Each person brings unique energy and skills to the table, and together, we’re shaping the future of DEGEN.
Of course, 2024 wasn’t without its challenges. Our Fall ‘24 collection faced delays due to a wool shortage, testing our patience and problem-solving skills. We also partnered with a fulfillment company that didn’t meet our standards, which taught us invaluable lessons about the importance of maintaining control over quality and customer experience. And as demand for our products grew, we ran out of inventory before the holidays—a bittersweet moment that underscored both our success and the need for better planning.
Despite these hurdles, we’re ending the year feeling more motivated than ever. 2024 has been a year of learning, adapting, and dreaming big. Looking ahead to 2025, we’ve set our sights on some ambitious goals. We’re planning to launch mini collections of new tools, move into a new warehouse in Providence, and introduce our very own line of yarn—a project that’s been years in the making. We’re also prioritizing growth on the business side, with plans to take a few classes to sharpen our skills and strategies.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of our journey this year—our team, our collaborators, and most of all, our community. Your support fuels everything we do, and we can’t wait to share what’s next. Here’s to a bright and yarn-filled 2025!
xoxo
